Sabbath Change | Saint Catherine Catholic Church Sentinel, May 21, 1995

“Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday… not from any directions noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church’s sense of its own power… People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep the Saturday holy.”

Saint Catherine Catholic Church Sentinel, May 21, 1995

The quote from above is another powerful statement that the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday, and not by God!

Nowhere in the Bible do we find any commandment to keep Sunday holy!

The Sabbath was, is, and will always be on the seventh day of the week!

When is the Sabbath Day according to the Scriptures?

The Sabbath is on the seventh day of the week according to the Scriptures.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Exodus 20:8-11 KJV

When Was the Sabbath Day established?

The Sabbath day was established after the six literal creation days! Back then, the only human beings alive were Adam and Eve!

The Jewish nation did not exist back then!

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Genesis 2:2-3 KJV

Was the Sabbath Created only for the Jewish people?

Contrary to popular belief – that the Sabbath was created only for the Jewish people, the Bible declares that it was created for every human being, for mankind!

Mark 2:27  And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Exodus 31:16  Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

Exodus 31:17  It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

KJV Bible

The literal Jewish nation lost the privilege to be called the “chosen people of God”.

Because they rejected the Messiah (Jesus) and crucified Him, they lost the privilege to be the “people of God”.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Luke 13:34,35 KJV

Nowadays we are spiritual Israel, according to Galatians 3:29

And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 3:29 KJV

So, whoever believes in Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross for our sins will make part of the chosen people of God – Spiritual Israel.

Did Jesus Kept the Sabbath?

Matthew 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Matthew 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 5:19  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 4:16  And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Holy Bible KJV

Conclusion

All throughout the Bible we find evidence that the Sabbath was, is, and will be forever on the seventh day of the week, Saturday. (Isaiah 66:23)

This change, from Saturday to Sunday has been predicted by God through the prophet Daniel.

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 7:25 KJV

The little horn power, identified by the Bible as the Papacy has changed the holy Law of God!

God is calling His faithful people out of Babylon!

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Revelation 18:4,5 KJV

If you have been deceived in keeping Sunday as a holy day, we encourage you to do a deeper research, and see for yourself that it does not have any Scripture support!

Turn your way today, and start keeping Saturday, the real Sabbath of the Lord, and you will be blessed, and forgiven for we have a kind and merciful Saviour!
