God knew our tendency to forget His Holy Sabbath day thus He made sure to include the word “remember” when He gave Moses the Ten Commandments written in stone with His finger. (Exodus 31:18)

Even though the Israelites were aware of the commandments of God long before the Mount Sinai event, (see Exodus 16), God decided that now was the time to make Israel know how important are His laws, and how would they benefit them too if they would obey and listen to their Heavenly Father!

The Creator of the Universe stopped and rested from His works – not because He was tired, but for that special communion with His creatures and with everything He has created! A special day for a special relationship with His creation!

Before Friday sunset, also called Preparation Day (Luke 23:54), we are to get ready for the Sabbath day by making sure we have all the cleaning, shopping, cooking done, and clothing ready for the holy day of God!  

During the entire week is good to prepare in advance for the Sabbath and not let everything be done on Friday! So, we want to make sure we sort all our business deals, projects, paperwork, etc. before Friday! 

When the Preparation day comes, we can finish with the last touches for the Sabbath, like having special clothing ready, and the meal as well!
