the sabbath in revelation

The Sabbath in the Book of Revelation

.The Sabbath is found also in the last book of the Bible, Revelation. This important commandment of our Creator started in Genesis (2:2-3) and it is also found in Revelation.

We find the apostle John receiving a vision from God on the Sabbath, or the Lord’s Day.

Then other references to the Sabbath we find on chapter 7, 12, followed by 14.

Revelation 1:10

Revelation 1:10 KJV  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Some the expression Lord’s day refers to Sunday, the first day of the week. However, the Bible never mentions anything about the change of the Sabbath day.

It was always on the seventh day of the week and never changed. (Matthew 5:17-19)

The Bible says the Lord’s day is the Sabbath, the seventh day of the week. (Isaiah 58:13)

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

As we can see, the Bible tells us which is the Lord’s Day.

Creation and Worship in Revelation

God as Creator

After God created this world in six days, He established a day of rest for everyone. (Genesis 2:2-3).

This weekly day of rest was to be a reminder of Him, His creative powers and our origins. (Exodus 20:8-11).

Every seventh day God calls us to stop and rest, and worship Him to remember our origins, and strengthen our faith in Him.

The First Angel’s Message (Revelation 14:6–7)

Revelation 14:6-7 KJV  And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters

These powerful verses point us back to the creation days. These verses are connected with the Sabbath.

Exodus 20:11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Thus, in these last days of this Earth’s history, God is calling back to worship Him and His commandments.

He has many faithful children all over this world that are living to the light they have.

The Sabbath is a very important commandment that the majority of God fearing people have been deceived with.

It was never changed to Sunday, despite the majority honoring that day.

Sabbath Keeping in Revelation

Revelation 12:17 says:

And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

As we can see from this verse, the Devil is enraged with those that keep the commandments of God, meaning all ten of them, including the Sabbath.

Unfortunately, he has deceived the majority of Christianity to keep a day (Sunday) which does not have the blessing and sanctification from God.

The commandment for the Sabbath starts with the word “Remember” for a reason. He knew it would be forgotten!

James 2:10 says that “whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

The characteristics of the true Church of God in last days are found in Revelation 12:17.

The Saints (Revelation 14:12)

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Here, we have another reference to the commandments of God which includes the Sabbath too.

The Sabbath and End-Time Worship

True and False Worship

In Revelation 13, there is described the final last battle between true worship and false worship.

The Sabbath will be the final test. Those who obey God and keep His Holy seventh day Sabbath will receive His seal and be saved for eternity.

Whereas those who accept a counterfeit day of worship, man’s teaching, will receive the mark of the beast and be lost.

On which day you worship, tell who you obey, and who you belong to!

Conclusion

The Sabbath in Revelation points us to the creation, worship, obedience, allegiance and rest.

It is very important to understand this subject correctly.

It does really matter on which day we worship. God wants us to keep His holy Sabbath the same He wants to keep all the other commandments.

If you would like to be part of God’s remnant Church, please consider studying this subject more, and find for yourself the truth no matter what the majority are doing and saying.

May God bless you with wisdom and eternal life! Amen!
